Wormeries are the perfect environmental solution to composting cooked and uncooked kitchen waste. A wormery is your own worm farm in a bin, the worms live and breed happily amongst the food waste converting it into rich dark compost and a liquid plant feed as well.

Worm composting is a wholly natural process and we only supply native British species. Worm assisted composting is fully self-sustaining, it reduces waste volumes by up to 80%.

Worms will eat approx half their body weight of food every day, so the more worms you have the more they eat. Each of our wormeries are supplied with a starter pack  including composting worms, these will double their numbers every 2-3 months until the number of worms match the amount of food being put in on a regular basis, so you don't have to worry about having too many worms.

The only maintenance a wormery requires is the addition of Lime Mix every 7-10 days. Lime Mix helps keep the PH of the contents neutral and also gives the worms some grit, which helps keep the worms gizzard clean and clear for grinding food ( similar to a bird ). The Lime Mix is included in the starter kit.

A wormery is a self contained system that can vary in size depending on the size of your family. We currently have three wormeries for sale these are the Work Top Bin, Green Bin and the Can-o-Worms. Most customers like to place their wormery close to the kitchen door as possible for easy use. Best results are achieved with soft organic wastes such as vegetable peelings, tea leaves, coffee grounds, bread, pet hairs and even vacuum cleaner dust. Due to their small size , our wormeries are not really suitable for composting large amounts of garden waste such as grass clippings and prunings, these are better composted in a Garden Compost Bin which we have a range of three.
